A GYM RUN LIKEA COACHINGPRACTICE.

BEDROCK opened in 2012 with eight platforms and one rule: everybody gets a written programme. The floor is ten times the size now. The rule has not moved.

WE ARE NOT TRYING TO BE THE BIGGEST GYM IN NORTHGATE.

There are cheaper gyms within a mile of here and there always will be. What we sell is the part they cannot: a coach who knows your name, your last session and the number you are chasing next.

Every member is assessed before they train, given a written programme, and retested every twelve weeks. Sessions are capped between eight and twelve people so a coach can actually watch. Nothing about that model scales cheaply, which is why we have stayed one building.

01

The method

FOUR BLOCKS,ON REPEAT.

Everyone starts in the same place and moves at their own speed. The block you are in is written on your programme, not guessed at.

01

Assess

We measure what you can do now — movement, load, work capacity, old injuries, how much time you actually have. No body-fat pinching, no sales pitch. You leave with a written plan and a starting number for every main lift.

90 minutes · included with every membership

02

Build

The first block is unglamorous on purpose: positions, tendons, and the habit of turning up. Loads go up in small increments you can repeat. Most people add 15–25% to their main lifts in this block.

12 weeks · 3 sessions minimum

03

Push

Once the base holds, intensity climbs. Fewer reps, more load, real conditioning. This is the block people remember — and the one your coach watches hardest, because it is where form quietly slips.

8 weeks · testing at the end

04

Adapt

Every number gets retested and the programme is rewritten around what actually moved. Nothing carries over out of habit. Then the cycle starts again from a higher floor.

2 weeks · full retest

House rules

SIX THINGSWE ASK.

Short list, honestly enforced. None of it is about etiquette for its own sake — every line exists because the floor stops working without it.

01

Put it back

Every bar stripped, every plate on the right peg. It takes forty seconds and it is the reason the floor still works at 19:00.

02

Ask for a spot

Nobody here minds. Every coach and most members will stop what they are doing. Failing a lift alone is the one avoidable injury.

03

Chalk stays in the bowl

Use as much as you like. Keep it off the benches and the handles.

04

One set, one station

If you are resting more than two minutes, let somebody work in. It costs you nothing.

05

Film your lifts, not other people

We encourage video review. Point the camera at your own bar and nobody else's.

06

Tell us when something hurts

Not at the end of the block. On the day. Almost everything is fixable early and expensive late.

The room

NOBODY HERE IS PERFORMING.

There are no mirrors at the platforms, no leaderboard on the wall, and no music loud enough to stop you asking a question. The average member is 34 and has been here four years.

People turn up, do the work, and talk to each other on the way out. That is the whole culture, and it is the part we protect hardest.
